What can we learn from the Polio Social Marketing Campaign

During our travels in the South, specifically New Orleans, we came across this billboard regarding polio. It states “we are this close to ending polio.”

It is somewhat shocking to see this ad because many individuals feel that polio has been completely eradicated.

What can we learn from this social marketing campaign in regards to developing an AIDS-Free Generation social marketing campaign? In particular, considering that many in the United States believe that HIV has been already cured?
