Miriam Vega Ph.D

Dr. Vega served as Vice President of the Latino Commission On AIDS. She has a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. She founded the Commission’s Research and Evaluation department: the Institute for Hispanic Health Equity. Her research focuses on the issues of social identity, stigma, culture, social marketing, and health. She recently published Sexo y la Ciudad [sex and the city]- a study of Latino Gay men and fractured identity; she created the CHANGE model of capacity building. Since 2012, she also serves as an NGO rep for the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI).
