Gabriela Santana Betancourt is the Commission’s Deputy Director of Research and Evaluation. She holds a BA in Sociology from Binghamton University, an MA in Latin American & Caribbean Studies from NYU, and an MPH in Epidemiology from Columbia University. She is currently completing her DrPH in Epidemiology at the CUNY School of Public Health. Prior to entering the world of research, she worked as a direct service provider with at-risk youth as a health educator and counselor. At heart, she is still a kid from the Bronx trying to make her way and give back to her community. The picture above is of Don Gato, an FIV+ rescue kitty, gentle soul, and dearly missed furry friend.
